Band At Ease

Connect your school Google account.

A district may require its Google Workspace administrator to review Band At Ease before a director can connect Calendar or Drive. This page gives your IT team the exact app identifiers and permissions.

For directors

Send this page to your district IT team before connecting a school-managed Google account. If Google says your institution’s admin needs to review Band At Ease, use Request Access on that screen as well.

Only the director or authorized staff member connecting a Google Calendar or Drive folder needs to authorize Google access. Students can view the shared schedule and music in Band At Ease without signing in to Google; guardians can view their student’s schedule without Google sign-in.

For Google Workspace administrators

In the Google Admin console, go to Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage App Access → Configure new app. Search by each OAuth client ID below, select the director/staff organizational unit that needs access, and review the requested Google data. If your policy permits, Specific Google data can limit approval to the listed scopes instead of trusting every Google service.

Google Calendar client ID — Band At Ease Calendar

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.calendarlist.readonlyhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.owned

The director chooses a calendar; Band At Ease can list calendars and read/edit events on calendars that Google account owns. Google’s grant covers owned calendars beyond the one selected, although Band At Ease uses the selected group calendar.

Google Drive client ID — Band At Ease Music Folder Picker

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly

The current folder-browser connection uses read-only Drive access. Band At Ease indexes and serves PDFs only from the director-selected music folder, but this Google permission technically allows the server to read other files in the consenting account’s Drive. It is a restricted Google scope. Earlier picker-based builds may also request https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file; approve that separately only if the older build is still in use.

These are two separate OAuth clients. Approving Calendar does not automatically approve Drive, or vice versa. No client secret, password, or student Google account is needed for this review.

Beta limitation: District approval is separate from Google OAuth testing access. While Band At Ease’s Google app remains in Testing, the connecting Google account must also be on Band At Ease’s approved tester list. Broader access requires Google’s production verification; district approval alone does not remove that requirement.
